To become a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), you must earn at least a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. In addition to coursework, a practical supervised training in an accredited program is required. This dietetic internship teaches the application of scientific nutrition and dietetics principles to a variety of work settings. After completion of the practical supervised training in an accredited program, the RD/RDN has passed a national examination and completes ongoing continuing education requirements.
