Being a transfer student requires you to take on many responsibilities. It is critical that you take charge of your education, ask for help, and question things you are uncertain about. The following checklist will assist you in keeping track of the tasks you need to complete to ensure a smooth process as you prepare to transfer from SRJC to a four-year university.
Transfer Checklist
- Get started
- Decide on your Major
- If you are undecided on your major:
- Enroll in Counseling 6, Introduction to Career Development
- Visit the Career Hub
- If you are undecided on your major:
- Meet with a counselor for an Educational Plan, even if you are undecided on your major or where you want to transfer
- Complete math and English courses in your first year
- Decide on your Major
- Learn about transfer process
- To gain a solid understanding of transfer requirements, enroll in Counseling 80, Understanding Transfer, 1.0 unit
- Research Transfer Universities
- Attend Transfer Center Workshops and Events
- Start with Transfer 101 Workshop
- Prepare
- Maintain a competitive transferable GPA
- To be admitted to certain schools and/or majors you must meet the GPA requirement
- Meet with University Representatives through the Transfer Center
- It’s never too early to speak with a rep
- Have your specific questions answered
- Visit the University Campuses that interest you
- Maintain a competitive transferable GPA
- Apply
- Apply to four-year universities during the priority application period and submit all required documents by deadline dates
- Come to an App Q & A workshop to get questions answered
- Submit App to be reviewed by the Transfer Center
- Attend Transfer Center Workshops and Events
