Minimum Upper Division Transfer Requirements to the UC
1. General Requirements
A. Minimum Units
- 60 UC-Transferable Semester Units by the end of the spring term prior to fall enrollment at UC.
B. GPA Requirement
- Minimum GPA: Typically, a 2.4 GPA for California residents and a 2.8 GPA for non-residents is required. Competitive majors or campuses will have higher GPA thresholds.
2. General Education and Major Preparation
- General Education
- OPTION ONE: Complete the following 7-course pattern by the end of the spring term prior to fall enrollment at UC.
- 2 transferable courses in English composition;
- 1 transferable course in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning;
- 4 transferable college courses chosen from at least two of the following subject areas:
1. arts and humanities
2. social and behavioral sciences
3. physical and biological sciences
- OPTION ONE: Complete the following 7-course pattern by the end of the spring term prior to fall enrollment at UC.
- OPTION TWO: Complete the IGETC pattern
B. Major Preparation
- Complete courses required for your intended major as specified by the UC campus. This ensures that you are prepared for upper-division coursework. Check the UC campus websites, assist.org, or use the UC Transfer Pathways to find major-specific requirements.
