TRANSFER ADMISSION GUARANTEE TIPS

When to write a TAG:
  • UCM will accept TAGs September 1 - 30.
  • Students must also submit the UC admissions application by November 30.

TAG Not Available for the Following Majors: Bioengineering (all emphases), Civil Engineering, Global Arts Studies Program, Literatures in English and Public Health

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Completed at least 30 UC transferable units at the time of TAG application submission.
  • Students who meet all TAG requirements but are not enrolled full-time may still apply; must provide an explanation in the gap in education section.
  • The student is a former UC student who left the university in good academic standing (with an overall and last term GPA of at least a 2.0).
  • The student is not a former UC Merced student.
TAG Requirements:
  • Complete one UC-transferable mathematics course with a grade of C (2.0) or higher by end of fall.
  • Complete the UC-transferable English composition courses with a grade of C (2.0) or higher by the end of the spring term.
  • Complete 60 UC transferable units by the end of the spring term.
  • Complete the academic criteria listed below for your major by the end of the spring term with a grade of "C" or better.
  • No unrepeated grade(s) of No Pass, D or F in UC-transferable coursework.
  • No more than two total withdraws in major preparation courses (including Emergency/Excused Withdrawals).
  • No more than one major preparation course where grades of No Pass, D or F were received even if repeated with passing grades.
  • Earned a minimum GPA noted below per School.

MORE TIPS:

  • PE Activity (KAD) courses - 4 units will transfer and the grades for the best 4 units can be used. Most KAD courses are considered PE Activity courses.
    • Some ATHL courses are also considered PE Activity courses and are subject to the same limits; others are considered Theory and subject to higher limits. There are no limitations on the number of units for DANCE courses
  • Transferable courses from all colleges attended must be used to determine the UC transfer GPA
